about
James C. Taylor, III is a pianist, singer, songwriter, and composer whose music is rooted in faith, authentic storytelling, and more than two decades of musicianship. After years of sharing his gifts primarily through worship and within his community, James is stepping into a new chapter as a recording artist, creating music that blends soulful vocals, expressive piano, and heartfelt lyrics drawn from faith and life experience. His upcoming single, “Rely on You,” introduces listeners to an emerging body of original music centered on hope, reflection, and deep spiritual connection.
Through every song, James seeks to create music that moves the heart, encourages the soul, and ultimately points listeners closer to God.
origins
James has been a lover of music all his life. Surrounded by a musically talented family and church community, James’ interest in music began very early. Introduced to the piano by his father and older brothers, he took an interest in following along and replicating what he saw them do. By the time he was about 8 years old, his parents enrolled him in formal piano lessons to learn to read sheet music. He demonstrated a keen ear for music, in being able to not just sing the melody of songs, but perform harmonies on the spot. It wasn’t long before they discovered that James’ natural, God-given ability to play “by ear” far exceeded his formal training on the piano.
philanthropy
It was around the age of 16 that James took an interest in philanthropy. At the release of his very first instrumental album (Christmas at 16), his father introduced the idea of donating a portion of the proceeds to a local children’s shelter. That Christmas, James wrote a check to the shelter for $500. It may not have seemed like much then, but that day he became inspired that his musical talents could be used for an even greater purpose. That’s when “The Gift of Music Project” was born and would eventually develop into a growing philanthropic initiative and charitable sector of his music business. With the support of family, friends & church community, thousands of dollars have been raised for various nonprofits by hosting benefit concerts. The funds also helped to sponsor various community outreach projects and charitable efforts within the city of Atlanta. After a long musical hiatus of many life transitions, including a pesky pandemic, James continues to pursue his passion and purpose of sharing his Gift of Music.
