about

JAMES C. TAYLOR, III is an Atlanta-born Christian pianist, singer, writer, and composer who channels the inspiration of timeless meaningful music with youthful energy and heartfelt enthusiasm.

With a soul deeply rooted in faith and a gift for music that has flourished over two decades, James is an extraordinary Christian pianist, singer, and composer stepping into the public music scene for the first time. Though a professional musician for over 20 years, James has primarily shared his talents in private settings—leading worship, composing heartfelt melodies, and ministering through music in ways unseen by the world.

Now, with a calling to reach a broader audience, James is embarking on a new chapter, bringing his anointed artistry to listeners everywhere. With a heart for traditional hymns, uplifting songs and creative expression, His music blends technical mastery with spiritual worship, creating compositions that stir the soul and draw listeners closer to God. Whether through soaring vocal melodies, masterful piano arrangements, or original compositions inspired by Scripture, every note reflects a passion for leading others into God’s presence.

With a sound that is both timeless and deeply personal, James invites audiences to experience his gift of music that is rich in skill, versatility, and spiritual depth. As he takes this step into the public eye, his mission remains the same: to glorify God, uplift His people, and inspire all who hear to draw nearer to Him.

origins

James has been a lover of music all his life. Surrounded by a musically talented family and church community, James’ interest in music began very early as what some might call a child prodigy. He demonstrated a keen ear for music, in being able to not just sing the melody of songs, but perform harmonies on the spot. Introduced to the piano by his father and older brothers, he took an interest in following along and replicating what he saw them do. By the time he was about 8 years old, his parents enrolled him in formal piano lessons to learn to read sheet music. It wasn’t long before they discovered that James’ natural, God-given ability to play “by ear” far exceeded his formal training on the piano.

From that time on, he experimented with the harmonica, clarinet, trumpet, and violin. In elementary school, he took up the cello and continued playing throughout middle and high school. During this time, he was also very active in vocal performance, participating as a soloist for special ceremonies, section leader in the chorus, and even served as an intern/tutor for his high school AP Music Theory course. He enjoyed performing in the highly competitive GMEA All-State Chorus, and also with the highest auditioned choral ensemble at Georgia State University.

philanthropy

It was around the age of 16 that James took an interest in philanthropy. At the release of his very first instrumental album (Christmas at 16), his father introduced the idea of donating a portion of the proceeds  to a local children’s shelter. That Christmas, James wrote a check to the shelter for $500. It may not have seemed like much then, but that day he became inspired that his musical talents could be used for an even greater purpose. That’s when the “Gift of Music Project” was born and would eventually develop into a growing philanthropic initiative and charitable sector of his music business. With the support of family, friends & church community, thousands of dollars have been raised for various nonprofits by hosting benefit concerts. The funds also helped to sponsor various community outreach projects and charitable efforts within the city of Atlanta. After a long musical hiatus of many life transitions, including a pesky pandemic, James continues to pursue his passion and purpose of sharing his Gift of Music.
